This arose out of a question a student had at a science fair. The question was why a weighted paper airplane would fly farther then an unweighted one. I would like to offer some explanations about why the weighted paper airplane flew further. What makes things go in the universe is tension. For example, take a sailboat, it has a sail which wants to go faster and push ahead and it has a keel which wants to hold back slowdown be stable. These two opposite forces have this tremendous argument at the place that they meet. If the keel wins the boat dosen’t go anywhere and if the sail wins the boat tips over. This is the same as with the airplane. The weight in the nose is the engine (gravity) pulling the plane toward the ground and the wings hold the plane back not wanting to go to the ground. This tension (argument) keeps the plane in the air. With out the tension the plane just wanders and without air being pushed over the wing the plane flutters to the ground. The weight by itself, of course falls like a stone. This is true in the universe as well as in relationships. When each (person, group, thing, planet, or star) stays true to its own nature and doesn’t give in or hold back or disengage the universe is in harmony and the paper airplane flies further, the marriage lasts longer, the government functions, the meetings are not boring, etc.
